Blithfield Sailing Club Phantom Open Meeting 11th July 2010

Sailors arriving at Blithfield on Sunday morning were met with 30 mph winds gusting to close to 40 mph from the west.

By the start of the first race the wind had eased a bit, but there were plenty of strong gusts to try the participants. Jim Hunt lead the first race, but was overtaken by Andy Couch before equipment failure caused Andy to retire

Jim then won comfortably followed by Andrew Wilde and Chris Brown close together, next followed by Harry Bridden and Richard Sims.

Race 2 was run back to back. Andy Couch lead off and finished first, followed by Jim Hunt, Andrew Wilde and Harry Bridden

For Race 3, after lunch, the wind had dropped considerably to 10 to 15 mph

Andy Couch was over the line and black flagged. Simon Cowood lead at the start, but was overhauled, with the finishing positions being Jim Hunt, Andrew Wilde, Chris Brown and Harry Bridden. And this was the also the result of the meeting as a whole
