The 2012 midland area phantom championships included four venues and 44 different phantom sailors competing. The largest fleet was blithfield who had over 20 boats racing. This was the highlight of the year being a north vrs midlands event. Unfortunately this event was won by a southerner. With three venues to count this made it tough to qualify for the series especially with very light winds forecast for two of the opens.

The overall winner of the series was Martin Emberson from Northampton SC who picks up the midlands champion trophy.

The 2013 midland series should see increased numbers with new Phantom boat owners appearing at midland lakes and a few northern sailors planning to compete in the series.
