Non-circuit summer sailing events.
« on: July 01, 2008, 02:37:24 PM »

Royston Vasey Yot Club (thanks Daren  :D )are not running too many events this year so I am looking to get some Phantom racing on the sea organised before the nationals.

Does anyone know of any summer events where there may be a decent gathering of Phantoms?

Remember Southwold on the August bank holiday w/e.

Jez and Simon thought that both the sailing and totty were top.

Southwold was a 50:50, but now you have mentioned the important things, maybe a bit of persuasion is needed at home!!

I cannot do Southwold due to my salt water phobia but I believe that camping is foc at the sailing club, hot showers, bar in clubhouse, 3 days on the water, etc etc. And it's an Eastern series event.

still 50:50?

Shoreham was the best Sea Sailing last year - ask Jez/Simon F.

Awesome waves, free camping on site, good beer and food too.

we should support it if you can get there - sharing with the Merlins I think.

Andy, I think there's enough circuit events to get through the summer.. based on 2 events/month.

this month: Weymouth and Creeksea
next month Shoreham and Southwold
then its Nationals time..

We should try and get a decent turnout to Shoreham, as Simon mentions above, cracking sailing and social last year.

Southwold will be mint! Although obvioulsy I'm biased! :)

Up North the next venues on the sea are at Filey weekend
(12th July) and Abersoch Dinghy week (20- 25th July). Usually 300 boats and last year 6/7 phantoms. Good family event.

Looks like there will be a reasonable turn out of phantoms at both. I will be doing both

3 Phantoms from Tewkesbury have entered Abersoch this year, whether we all get round will be a different matter!

It should be a good turnout at Abersoch, we have four boats from Delph, Mike Webster nomally goes from Elton, Pete Evans and Nat Champ are regulars. It is an excellent event all the family look forward too.   See you all there.   Clowy. 1287
