Broxbourne Sailing Club Winter Series
« on: November 17, 2007, 03:17:05 PM »

Broxbourne Sailing Club (BSC) is running two winter series of which the first series starts tomorrow. Full information is available in the current edition of the Dinghy Sailing Magazine or on www.broxbournesailingclub.co.uk.

For your info BSC have about half a dozen Phantoms, of which about 3 or 4 should be out most weeks as part of the fast handicap fleet. There will be two races per week, the first a class start (depending on class numbers), and second a general handicap start.

Any questions, let me know on 07903 836481

Should also have mentioned, that cost is £20 for both series, although you will need to confirm with them about boat storage.

On the 18/11 at Broxbourne the wind was Force 3 gusting 5/6. There were three boats out, Simon (1089) Robin (1???) & Andy (1111), and all three boats finished both races (albeit with some swimming).

It is hoped that the breeze is less next week, and a few other Phantoms will be out to join in the fun.

The series is all but over (4 out of 5 races sailed). Unfortunately due to Christmas parties, bad weather, the turnout has been poor, although 6 phantoms did make it out at some point.

It was a good representation for the phantom class, with first in the single hander fleet, and at least third in the handicap fleet in some medium-strong winds.
