Title: new owner - advice on storage and storm sail please
Post by: SimonLennane on March 31, 2019, 02:20:42 PM
Hello all, proud new owner of 1208 here, sailing at Llandegfedd, South Wales.
30+ years since I owned 601, nice to be back in the class.

I'm trying to find something suitable to store a few things while on the water: water bottle, sunglasses etc.
There's a suitable triangular mesh / velcro thing at the front of the cockpit on this Phantom video:

Anyone know where I can find something like this?

I'd also like to find a smaller / storm sail as sometimes I'll be coaching my kids on toppers from the Phantom - any suggestions for smaller, loose footed sails that should fit? Something old & knackered is fine, I'll actually be trying to go slowly for once.

Thanks, Simon

P&B sell the bags - mesh bulkhead storage bag if you want to google others

Best bet with the sail is to get your hands on an old one and have it cut down buy a sailmaker

Thanks Ivan - here's the link to the Exe one:

Going with the P&B one as I need a clew strap from them as well.
Thanks, Simon

Just in case anyone else is looking for a smaller sail, an RS Feva XL sail fits perfectly. I'd rather be screeching around, but having a 6.3 sq m sail available means I can coach my children in a breeze from my Phantom, without having to spend all my time trying to keep it upright.
The P&B bag is great thanks Phil, I'm sewing some velcro to the top as I don't trust it not to open in a capsize.
