Ok guys, the winters are now only 6-days away, and this is your chance to make both Ian and I jealous that neither have boats at the moment.

To ensure we have enough food/drink etc, it would be really useful to know how many of you are coming. If you have not already put your names down, please can you do so?

Thanks.

Hi Andy,
Reference:-  SI 19.2 (Winter Wetsuit)

I notice that, "A winter Wetsuit", is required {I don't have a drysuit, let alone a, "Winter DrySuit"}.
Since I don't have this Winter Wetsuit, does this now preclude me from entering anyway ?   I suppose I could sadly, stay at home and just mope.

I've sailed the winter season so far, at home here in the East, using my normal gear, usually layered-up, but strictly I cannot comply.  Also my gear is a mixture of wet-suit long-john and dry top, so again doesn't comply with, either, "... a ..... or ...", of any-one-thing.

What say you ?

Ben

Ben,

I dont recall any winter events that dont require a drysuit / winter wetsuit to be worn while racing. This point aside, given the advance with modern clothing technology, assuming you layer up sufficiently for the weather, there should not be any issue over you not wearing a formal winter wetsuit (or drysuit).

It does however remain the responsibility of the sailor to ensure they are adequately dressed for the conditions! Given that we are running a winter event on a recently frozen lake, safety is our priorty, and should the organisers feel that there is insufficient clothing for the conditions, then you will be asked to change or not sail.

I hope this covers off your question, however, please do let Ian or I know if we need to clarify further.

RE: Food at the Winters

I spoke with the lovely Linzy & Rosie this evening and they have kindly offered to do a hot meal for Saturday evening for 20+ hungry Phantom sailors and supporters.

If you and the trouble and strife would like to join us Olly, then you are welcome; otherwise, there are a number of nice pubs in the vicinity for you to sample. ;D

I think its something that I've long-forgotten (7-months ago now, yay !).
Heck, I do enjoy winding people up !

(Hmmm, wonder if OceanStrider will  be around?  Due another wind-up soon.)
