1044 anyone know about it?
« on: July 27, 2010, 06:29:30 PM »

Hi,

1044 is for sale on Apollo Duck

http://sailingdinghies.apolloduck.co.uk/listings.phtml?cid=123

It would be my first phantom, anyone know if it is a competitive boat? Does it look a good deal?

Cheers

WT

it used to be WT. John 'Titch' Wayling owned as well as other competitive people. However it should be said that it is a polyester boat and as such may well be heavy compared to the epoxy boats. That said it will still be good as a club boat but you may struggle a bit on the open scene. I'm sure that Titch will be on here to fill you in further

Looks pretty much how I left it, hatches in side taknks where for repairs to deck. Came 5th at inlands, added raking rig controls and obviously it has differnt sails, looks like same foils, would be a good starter for the price, assuming the hull is stil OK, not sure what the "pro grip" is covering up?

Thanks guys. I hadn't realised that there were different plastic boats. Is there a way of telling polyester apart from epoxy?

I'd noticed the progrip - I'll have to ask what it's doing there. Perhaps I should fit trapeze wires to it ;D

Hi WT
If you want a boat about that cost it may be worth talking to Neil Fulture who took one in part exchange for a boat of his.
