Winter traveller Series
« on: December 08, 2013, 10:29:40 PM »

All,
I have just been chatting to Matthew from Burton Sailing Club. He has come up with a very good idea. After I said I might go up and have a sail with the boats at burton he suggested maybe having a sort of winter traveller series. So far we have come up with 3 potentials, but we are looking for more.
Bowmoor
Burton
Northampton
I would like to find at least 6 clubs to start with but we are by no means restricted.
The general plan is to try and tag it on the clubs racing so that it doesnt mess up the club racing.
Due to high demand I also intend to try and get some training in at some point.
If anyone out there would like to have something at there club over the winter then please get in touch.
This is just a suggestion at the moment but I think it could be good.
There are some phantom clubs still out there frensham, Island barn lets see if we can get something started.
Please feel free to give me a bell or an e-mail to discuss:

Hi Ollie, we have the Frensham Frenzy on 9th March which is not part of our Southern circuit ...  but is an Open event consisting of 2 pursuit races.  Perhaps that could be part of your winter series?

Not a bad shout Jeremy. I am quite warey that that is close to first southern open at bowmoor. This would not normally be in issue however we have bowmoor and then wimbleball the weekend after.

Good idea. I would be up for a couple of events.

Are there any dates for Burton yet?

Adam,
We are in the process of putting the dates together. We will post on here as soon as we know. Out of interest where do you sail?
If its easier if everyone who is interested emails me and then when i know I will put out a group mail.

hey ollie

pretty sure we could do a sunday at bartley with seperate starts around the club racing(normally only 5 or 6 boats) i will ask around tomorrow

perhaps as a suggustion we could waive the normal entrance fees and forgo the prizes at each event so it just the petrol that people are funding

cheers matt

Olly

As discussed we could easily sort a Sunday at Northampton and could do some training first thing in the morning followed by the club pursuit and fleet race.

The only cost would be a contribution towards any rib use as we can sign anybody in as a guest.

I suggest 19 January as its a week before the Steve Nich and people will be able to leave their boats there for the week.

Just let me know if there is anybody wanting to come over.  We should be able to get 4 or 5 club phantoms out.

Cheers
Ian

Ian,
I would have thought that I will.
I think the fee is dependant on the club.
If people could give me dates then we can get something in place. I think it's best if we leave a gap between weekends (apart from Northampton/Steve nic).

So far:
Northampton 19th January
