We have been racing with that handicap (1008) at club level since 1st April 2013. It gets tougher every year.

With Sailracer in charge you'll probably get to an event and find out its only for land sailing or its only for Toppers....

I think the RYA handicaps are out struggle to beat a slightly over averaged sailed Flying 15 on the water.  It might be ok for Northampton that's small and shifty, but on a big lake think this is to much.  The sailracer handicaps may be ok as so many boats have been adjusted a lot from the RYA base a lot more than the Phantom.  Think I would do better sailing a Laser though.

Hi All
I think people need to look at the whole list not just the Phantom   so many have changed that it is difficult to tell how you would do.
It is only a change of 2 from last year, and didnt Andy Couch win one of the races ? Its not as if he is even any good!

I see that the numbers of phantoms at the sailjuice events is VERY low. I know that I said that I wasnt going to do many due to the 1008 py but I feel that we should do at least one on mass. I intend to do the Steve Nic but was thinking that we should have a push on the Oxford event.
Its a new event for the year and nice and early so a good chance to shake off some of the mince pies and turkey.
What do we think??

Agree with Matt 100%.

Only doing Stevie Nich because of the Northampton connection.

Thank you Ian / Matthew for your posts and I fully appreciate that Sail fest didn't go as planned. I'm sorry I wasn't there so I cannot really comment. However being an avid phantomer and loving the class I do feel we need to get word out again about how brilliant the phantom is and believe the best way to do this is to attend such events like the sail juice series. I have some real concerns over popularity currently with several top sailors leaving the class and support at opens dwindling across several regions. I feel any negativity towards any events will only bring us poor press as a class. I fully understand class's racing is what we all want and let's no go in handicaps but if you look at so many classes they have been represented at the last two sail juice events which have a vast amount of coverage on sailing sites and forums so I do feel that from having one bad experience surely for the love and sucess of the class we should give them another chance and get this fantastic boat seen on the water and encourage more sailors to the class.

Olly

I was thinking of maybe doing the Brass Monkey and the Steve Nicholson. The others are abit far from me. Trying not to be away too many weekends in the winter so I can come down and do some sea sailing in the summer again.
