Hi Andy

I would like a family week ,happy to camp and one where 'da yoof' can sail his Topper(but no too seriously).  How does Abersoch shape up for that and is it sociable for a family?

Coastbuster / Captain Slow,

24th - 29th July

Abersoch week is a perfect family week - there is one race a day in the morning for single handed and one in the afternoon for double handed that are about 2 hours long over 6 days 5 races to count.

If you have not sailed there before it has to be one of the top 3 places in the UK to sail.  Includes great club house and long beach for launching and storage without having to pull your boat far.

The event has something on at the sailing club every night for social and a BBQ etc a couple of times.  They do have a topper fleet that do a smaller course towards the shore.  About 250 boats attend  - you should defo do this event!!!

Simon, like Andy said Abersoch was always a family week and has just grown and grown.  With only the one race a day it is perfect if you have family with you but if you are going for the sailing the only option is to enter the ironman challenge! Singlehander in the moring and then double hander in the afternoon.  In 2009 i was there and it was howling all week (F5+), my m8 did the laser & rs400, lets just say he didnt last the pace in the pub at night  :D But book your accomodation early!

Abersoch is a great place to sail.  always went there in my yoof and been to a few FF nats there in recent years.  Great family week.  Great waves .... usually about last week of July if I remember.  Caution ..  book campsites early ...  check boat insurance as some have additionall premiums for Abersoch beach due to some silly vandalism problems a few years ago.
