Bloody Mary - times
« on: December 04, 2010, 05:08:57 PM »

Thinking of doing the Bloody Mary on Jan 8th, as part of my 2011 'do more events' resolution. I know it kicks off at about 12 noon, presumably for the Oppis or Toppers.

Anyone know very roughly what time the Phantoms start?
And any idea what time the event is likely to finish?
And anyone else coming along?

Cheers,

Solid Air

All

Please note new handicap figures will be used in all the Sailjuice events.. Exspect another reduction....

The consistently high performance of some particular classes - notably the Merlin and Phantom - suggest that the standard PYs issued by the RYA are not entirely reflective of the reality of modern handicap racing. While the PY numbers have been aggressively revised by the RYA earlier this year, we are strongly encouraging sailing clubs participating in this year’s Series to adopt a set of PY numbers based on historical data from the very same grand prix racing events that constitute the SailJuice Series.

Could any of you attending this event email me with phantom results and report? Or at a minimum results and input for me to write a report. As a newly volunteered Publicity Officer i'd like to starting 2011 on a good note!

I've got exactly the same question, and this series of posts seems to have gone slightly off-thread. The standard info & NoR are not really informative.
  (a) Anyone any idea of how the starts work (timing & call-up) ?
  (b) Anyone any idea of anticipated finish-time ?
Yep, I've entered also, so that makes 8, and the largest Class entry again ..... and I see that Crick Naig has deserted and moved to a more-favourable Merlin-Rocket !

All

Looks like they have ammended your handicap..

Quote Andy Rice from article on Yachts & Yachting today..

We moved the Phantom back 3 minutes, a reduction of 30 compared to its 2009 PY number and the National 12 and Merlin back by 2 minutes, equating to a reduction of their PY numbers at the time by 15.

... I assume this makes you sail off 1043 - 30 = 1013....

Therefore this favours the Merlins even more

ohh well
