AODR 2014
The Anglesey Off-shore Dinghy Race(AODR) is one of the more unusual events in Phantom North 2014, sponsored by
www.standardsplus.co.uk . It’s a single handicap race “with extras”.
AODR is on Sunday 10th August 2014 with a briefing at 09.00hrs and the race starts at 10.30hrs. So it’s an early start or a weekend in Anglesey - beaches, walks, views and...er... sailing and this is the last event of the Menai Straights Joint Regattas.
This is a spectacular event with a mass start at Beaumaris, Anglesey (North Wales). From then on the navigation is fairly easy – keep the land on your left and the water on your right! The race ends at Treath Bychan with food and relaxing – you’ll need it!
For this event pre-entry is required and really helpful for the organisers. “Really helpful” means the club will man sufficient number of rescue boats on the water (that sort of really helpful!). To enter follow this link
http://www.redwharfbaysc.co.uk/anglesey-offshore-race and entries close on 4th August 2014, so allow some time for the post. There is an entry limit for this event – so don’t delay.
As for the logistics, a land-crew is the best option as they can take your trailer and clothes to the finish line. Otherwise, some of the friendly folk at Red Wharf Bay Sailing and Water sports Club will take you back to your car (and clothes, hopefully). Spectator viewing is at Puffin Sound when the dinghies will be really close to the shore.
Post a reply here if you are coming or want more info (others may want more info too).
See you there.
