Blackpool & Fleetwood Open - 4 & 5 August 2012
« on: July 17, 2012, 08:32:50 AM »

Hi to all,

The Phantom Northern Travellers Series 2012 reaches the midway point with the Blackpool and Fleetwood Open on 4th and 5th August 2012. This is one of our sea events and good practice for inland sailors before the Nationals. Sailing at B&F offers sea breezes, flat water and tides - which will be interesting for non-tidal sailors! I think we sail on the estuary.

The event is joint with the Merlin Rockets and there is a BBQ on the Saturday evening. I guess there is camping available and there is always the prospect of staying in Blackpool itself, with the chance of enjoying “traditional family seaside fun”. Blackpool and Fleetwood is about one hour travel from Manchester or Liverpool, and about 1 ½ hours from Leeds and is easily connected to the motorway network.

The series is taking shape but currently lead by a Midland’s sailor! We are hoping for a good turn out of 20 boats and with a fleet this size, there is always close competition all the way to the “chequered flag”.   For more information and the Notice of Race follow this link http://www.bfyc.org.uk/

See you there.
