MBSC/ HBSC Icicle Race 27th December 2015
« on: November 30, 2015, 07:47:02 AM »

So as touched on by Chris in another thread, anyone fancy having a go at this?

It was well supported by the Phantom fleet, both visiting and home boats last time, with 5 boats finishing in the top 10, so would be good to see the same again this year.

This year its being run by Maylandsea Bay but you can rock up at either club for rigging etc as they are only 100 yards apart.

Little bit eariler on 27th December with a 1150am start.

So, who is up for it?

Where exactly is the sailing area? Are the races run out by Osea Island or do they hold them at the creek just in front of the clubs?

Start is on the MBSC line, out the 'creek', somewhere around a few bouys near Osea and than back to the club line for a finish via a few more bouys.

Its only one race

Or thats how its been for the last few years, wind and direction dictates the course on the day

Why have they moved the date?  Can't do this date but guess I'll catch up with the  re-sail in February......

Its normally sailed the first weekend after new year, guess tides are a no this year thats why its earlier.

The January 2015 event was covered in a bank of thick fog, so it was re-run in February, hence the re-run comments :-)

Didn't go in the end.

Was at stone and it was blowing high 20s- low 30s so didn't bother.

Looking back now bit if a shame as few hours later wind did drop abit and it might have been a good sail.

Nope, I sailed on Boxing Day at HTSC.  Was force 6 and I ended up with bruised ribs and dodgy knee ligaments for my efforts....  (Must learn where the limit is). Now wont be sailing again for a few weeks :( .
