Burnham week - Eastern Area Champs
« on: August 11, 2015, 08:22:35 PM »

We're approaching the Eastern area champs held as part of Burnham week.

This event takes part over the first (bank holiday) weekend of the Burnham week regatta. The major sailing clubs in Burnham join together to provide great racing and a variety of evening entertainment options. There is ample camping available behind the Royal Corinthian Sailing club including electrical hook up.

Entry can be made at http://www.burnhamweek.com/enter-here/ .

If you have any queries, please get in touch with me.

(Un)fortunately I will be sipping beer in Oostende in preparation for the Nationals so cannot play  :D

Burnham Week Phantoms invited to barbecue Saturday evening. Salad etc and heat supplied.
5 Church Road.
I give directions on Saturday.
RSVP would be useful.

Ok - so for the uninitiated....  Burnham sailing club is "Royal Burnham Sailing Club"?  I've never been there so have no idea where i'm going, what time i need to be there or what i do when i get there other than rig the boat and follow everyone up & down a river, just like i did at Walton ;).

Can anyone share a few tips in advance?
where are we likely to be sailing?
Is it possible to locate via google maps?
Is it likely to sausage/triangle courses - or specific marks?
Does anyone know the marks (i'm terrible at identifying) etc.
Is it possible that i'm likely to win the "sailing in the minimum amount of water possible" award again?  ;)

That should be enough to make sure I least arrive in time on Saturday morning!

Ian

Si's are now on Burnham Week website. Looks like 11.30 Saturday & 10.40 Sunday and Monday. You need to head for Royal Corinthian Yatch Club (that's the one nearest the sea).
Courses will be set to buoys in the river no specific triangle or otherwise  8). See you Saturday.

Burnham sailing club and Royal Burnham Yacht club are not the same.

BSC is closest to the marina, heading out of the Crouch, next up is Crouch Yacht club, then the RBYC finally is the Royal Corintian Yacht Club.

To find the RCYC drive into Burnham right along the high street past the bell tower on the right, Ship pub on the left and as the road narrows turn right into Belvadere Road, there is a pub on the corner not sure of name. follow the road for 250 yards and the RCYC is on the right. If you get to Petticrows you are on the right road but gone too far  :)

Hmm - so before it gets way too confusing - I need to go to the Royal Corinthian SC - not Burnham SC?

Yup, if you follow Phil's instructions through Burnham, you'll pass the Royal Corinthian on your right and see to the left a field with our tents in. You can look on http://royalcorinthian.co.uk/ to find out more about the yacht club. We will be launching from there from the versadock slips either side of their pontoon. If you are arriving Saturday, give yourself plenty of time to rig and get in the queue before the Ospreys....

See you there!
