Wells SC Open. 17/18th July.
« on: June 30, 2010, 09:13:26 PM »

Wells-next-the-sea Phantom Open.  17/18thJuly.
Wells SC would love to see a good turnout of boats, last chance of a practice before the Nationals.
For the first time visitors, NR23 1LE should get you pretty close on the sat-nav. Free camping space as before, fork left past clubhouse boat storage area on right. Campervans etc, fork right past clubhouse, past fishermen’s sheds to WSC overflow car park. Clubhouse is open from 7pm for Friday arrivals. Changing rooms & showers are up & running now!
Start times are 10am Sat. 1030 Sun. You should plan to launch 30mins before start times, towing may be necessary to get you to race area, so a tow rope is advised. Also Wells is not suitable for fixed rudders!
2 races Sat. 3 Sunday, 4 to count. Entry fee £15 for the weekend.
The club are holding a Hog roast on Saturday night, guests very welcome.
Wells is a great venue to bring the family, racing will be over by lunchtime, giving you the chance to enjoy a seaside town,  walk in the Pinewoods, or even walk the harbour & memorize the high bits for Sundays racing!
If you are thinking of B&B, our Vice Commodore Bob runs one, or will advise you: 01328 710460

If you could post on here if you plan to come, it would help plan for food etc.

Aah !!!!! The land of the poisonous Monkey!

Takes six months to get the jabs to enter that region of the country!

Cant make it this year but close enough at the nationals for acclimatisation!(spellcheck)

Cant wait to race against you soon James and the East coast 'Mafia'.

How about a sweep for the challenge of best region at  the Nationals.  Declare your support at the beginning, North-(all three of them led by Westom), South, Eastern, and Midlands.
Pound per person  and see which area wins

Cant be done by weight of numbers, might take a bit of working out.  Something like buddy system scoring.

For instance highest then lowest placed from that area, then next highest and next lowest etc.

Winnings split between the winning team at the bar after day 2.

Dare you!  No in fact double dare you!

You Know you want to.

Simon 'Coastbuster1359' Southern softie!

At the RS300 nationals they run a fantasy football style league over the nationals event.  Its bloody good fun.

Simon,
If i remember correctly!  Each helm has a valuation against them depending on the previous years placing, recent open meeting success.

Each person that wants to play then gets a budget of say £10m to buy a "Team of helms" (say 4)  Each position carries a number of points and the player with the most points wins the league!!  The players budget needs to be tight to encourage enterants to buy both top end helms and back of the fleeters!  You could have point scoring as follows:

Win 10 points
second 9 points
third 8 points
forth 7 points
fith 6 points
sixth 5 points
seventh 5 points
8th  3 points
9th 2 point
10th 1 point

Imporvement on previous days result + 10 positions - 5 points
"    " + 5 Posistions - 3 points
OCS - -5 points
DNF - -5

Every pays a fiver to play - Winner takes all, or even buy a fairly decent prize.   It was great fun at the 300 nationals, although i missed out entry as i could only manage the last two days.

I have just secured clearance for this event and as a result, there will be a wooden boat on the water, mainly for aesthetics but also to try and show you tupperware boys theres more to life than plastic!.

May get there Friday yet! we'll have to see.

Bacon & egg baps after sailing on Saturday, hog roast PM.
I plan to be at the Clubhouse from about 6-30 Friday evening.
See you all tomorrow.
