2014 Scottish
« on: May 07, 2014, 01:44:17 PM »

So - any takers???  :o

Happy to help anyone needing more information on this famous stretch of the Forth Estuary- as run by the well-regarded race management team at ELYC.

Hopefully my boat will be back from the menders by then!!!  :-\
(Don't feel too bad for me - doing a bit of VX One yachting while waiting...... 19knots downwind and 6 back!)

Donald,

Just about to send the Trophy back as I sadly can't make it this year, should I send it to your home address?

That's a shame John - you'll be missed - thanks for supporting in prior years. If you just send back to the club.

When is it?

It's this weekend Olly - as part of the ELYC multi-class regatta - circa 120 - 140 boats over 2 race courses.

And then there were seven ......

The boys at Ovington excelled themselves and delivered my boat back this evening - beyond the call.

I'm told we are now the magnificent seven - 5 as above and 2 'unknowns' - who are these border raiders??? - time will tell...

Trophy is winging its way back to your Commodore...

Good luck with the event, maybe back next year?

Thanks Titch - 'it won't be the same without you'

(Well done Maud by the way - clearly a 'chip of the old block'.)

First day report:

Wind 20 knots gusting up to 30. Skiff and asymmetric course held ashore. We head out for 2 races in some 'interesting' conditions - epic downwind sleigh rides. The legend that is Jimmy Sandison (over 60 years old - recently took on a Royal Navy frigate which had the cheek to enter our club race course - Jimmy saw them off) - both race wins!!

Forecast for light winds today - will Jimmy win back his Scottish crown, being the first ever winner? Time will tell - go Jimmy!

Second day report:

Light and shifty indeed - only 2 races to follow the 2 yesterday.

Top 3:

Jimmy wins by a point from Gavin, who is a point ahead of Mike - close!
