See you got to put crap sailors like me out there to keep it at 1043 ::), if we only put our best sailors out there its bound to drop ;)

Intereting 0- had heated debates in our sailing committee on this.  I am the only Phantom, not come anywhere in the results, the Alton expereince has taught me a lot and i certainly wasnt the fastest and the Phantom at my club (only me so effectivly a personal handicap) will be on 1042, along with the Blaze and the Lasers on 1100 !!!  Oh well... as they say its character building  ;D

1042, That luxury.    Looks like I will be sailing off 1039 or less this year.

Pathetic...1039, we laugh in the face of such high PY's. At Chew this winter we were sailing off 994..until we complained a bit, so they adjusted it....to 995, how kind!

'spose it serves us right for stuffing everyone up there last winter.

Sheer b-----y luxury.  My club use personal handicaps and my first allocated one was 949.

I have been re-assessed and they have now upped it to 970!!!!

Then I have to work for 24hrs  a day, get up before I go to bed and lick the gravel clean from the lake every morning.

Try telling that to the kids of today?

Hmmm.

Sadly I know some wise young'un is going to ask what that was about.

Cue Bwgan!

Nudge Nudge, wink wink, say no more !!!

Ok so 1042 doesnt sound toooo bad but i guess its all relative.    The handicap fleets in BSC are split into Fast and Slow at around the 1020 handicap mark so i am in the Slow. (sounds about right for me !!)  ::)

The other boats in with me all have advantages above PY.  The Laser (1078 PY, Local 1100), Mirror (1386 PY, 1402 local), Vareo (1038PY, 1050 Local), Tasar (1023Py, 1047 local).

Would be interested what these boats and others around us have at other clubs ???

At Hunts SC we have tried varying the Phantom PY over the last couple of years as handicap racing results were led by a procession of Phantoms.  we have currently set it at 1030 for epoxy / carbon boats (others are unchanged.) Our best Phantom sailor still wins everything (justifiably) but other boats are now coming into the placings - Merlins, Laser 8.1, today (windy) Laser 4.7.  We will probably stick with 1030 for the time being - seems to suit our water and conditions.

It would be interesting to hear from ALL the fleets and how the Clubs are adjusting the PY to suit themselves. Blithfield has been at 1030 since the start of last year and after a review are retaining it for 2009.  That probably comes about as we have Andy Couch as a fleet member !!!

Interestingly, the non-epoxy boats and wooden boats are set at 1043 and are now seen as basially another class !!

On top of that, there is also a personal handicap adjustment, much too much can be said about that, so I won't start !!
