Sail number 938
« on: October 14, 2018, 07:42:30 PM »

Hi
I have recently purchased a secondhand Phantom from Bartley Sailing Club, Birmingham. Sail number 938.

Would anyone out there have any information on that era of Phantoms and if there’s anything to look out for.

I have noticed that where the main sheet tower was, there are a few superficial gelcoat cracks on the centreboard casing, so the previous owner removed it, it now runs along a rope from one bulkhead to the other. I wondered if it would be ok to put a main sheet tower back.

I believe it’s one of the first GRP Phantoms, and I don’t expect it to be competitive by any means.

Your comments would be much appreciated

Thanks.
