« on: April 15, 2010, 12:39:29 PM »

Hi, is anyone going to Hunts on Saturday?  Just checked windguru not much wind forecast but plan to go anyway.

Well, I am going (my first time in the boat and first event....) and I see the MET forecast is a slightly more optimistic 12 but Windfinder concurrs with Windguru.  I like a challenge. ;)

I'm going. Last chance to practice before Holland!

There'll be plenty of breeze on the leading edge of that (dust) cloud!

Daren,

Shame you don't know someone with a spare mast isn't it? Hold on, I've got one....

Thanks to everyone at Hunts for the open.  You can't do much about the weather but we got three races in and that's what matters.

Next round is at Southwold for May Bank holiday.  Just considering how much the ferry tickets to Holland could raise on eBay at the moment with "no-fly" in place....

Well, I enjoyed it! Missed the compass and burgee I used to have but I think the boat felt nice. Hoping to go to Southwold, for Sole Bay if nothing else! Wouldn't mind a bit more wind.....but carefull what you wish for!

Thanks to all at Hunts, as Chris says you can't do much about the weather!  I think this line from the Solution report sums up the conditions perfectly!  :)

"The light, fickle, stop/start wind with huge shifts ensured the racing became a game of snakes and ladders. In race one Colin Newman built up a huge lead during the first lap only to park up in a hole as the fleet sailed by leaving him second last at the finish."

Look forward to seeing you all at Southwold (sea breeze ordered!)

Thanks to all at Hunts, great hospitality & management of all except the wind!
Lovely parsnip soup from Mrs Scrimshaw thanks.

My therapist has a lot of work to do to repair my enjoyment of light & shifty stuff. I apparently keep muttering about race3, leading 3 lengths from the first mark, rounded it in ninth! Race 1 sat with no wind, JJ planed past & kept going.
I am sure we all had similar experiences, at least we got the sun tan started. Looking forward to the next Eastern at Southwold.
