Sutton Bingham Open - Sunday 18th April 2010
« on: April 06, 2010, 09:19:07 PM »

The date is the 18th of April for the next round of the Exmoor Ale Vandercraft Southern Travellers and is to be held at Sutton Bingham SC just south of Yeovil, Somerset. The start of the first race is scheduled for 11.30am with 3 races being sailed. The notice of race can be found via the front page of the Sutton Bingham website or via this direct link -  http://www.suttonbinghamsc.net/site/images/stories/nors/phantom_nor_2010.pdf. I hope that as many as possible can come along and join in the sailing and there is a guaranteed new winner this year as unfortunately last years winner, Gavin Young cannot make it. This will be a hotly contested event.

I believe that the entry fee also includes a bacon buttie & drink on arrival (so long as the galley staff have got out of bed early enough).

Hope to see you there

Just like Springer, I'm packing up after Wednesday evening sailing (how great is it to say that again!) and plan to be there on Sunday!

To all attending Sutton Bingham on Sunday and those who need to be swayed,

I have attended one of our sponsors today and have a supply of ' Beast'  to hand out to the worthy!

Those participating in the Southern Exmoor Ales and Vandercraft sponsored Phantom event will get their sought after and artisitic stickers and those of special merit , not necessarily the leaders may be eligable for the coveted 'Exmoor Gold' to sample at their leisure!
Our Ale sponsor seems most pleased with our progress and travels.

A photoshoot of the boats in full livery and their helms also in fool livery will be required!  If you ever needed an incentive to attend a meeting the this is it.  It would appear to my great  pleasure that this level of support shall continue at Southern events throughout the series.

To those who would like support and encouragement such as we can give, please come along and we do our utmost to provide the information and alongside practice within the event as we at this time are unable to offer a full training event.

I look forward to seeng you at the weekend.

Cheers Simon.

would be good to see you Nick, though the forecast doesn't look rosey for lardies like me. That said we do quite often see a land/sea breeze make it that far in if its warm enough so there might be wind even if the forecast says not.
Hope to see you tomorrow but understand if you don't

Thanks to Maxi and all at SB who turned my disaster into a most enjoyable day's sailing.  Rustling up a spare mast like that was a great effort.  It's a strong testament to the friendly and open nature of the class that a relative stranger/newcomer can be such a muppet and still receive incredible help and assistance.

Despite the confused and lazy bernoullis, I had a great day.  Anyone got a carbon top section going spare?

Thanks again, Phil

I've seen the photo of the event now Phil, and boy do you look dejected. Thanks for coming and sorry that it turned into an expensive day. The moral must be to watch out for low height barriers. At least you didn't win pratt of the day award. That definitely went to Roger Battersby. A capsize in zero wind before the 1st start as well as a headlong dive into the water at the start of the 2nd. Wins every time. Thanks for coming and I look forward to returning to Spinnaker after so many years. Please rustle up some more wind than we had though.
Cheers
