2014 Nationals Stone Sailing Club 5-7 September
« on: June 09, 2014, 07:49:10 AM »

This years National Championships takes place at Stone Sailing club from 5th - 7th September.

Racing format will be same as previous Nationals with 2 races Friday, 3 races Saturday and 2 races Sunday - IF all races sailed 5 count so If you don't make the Friday theres still a chance of a good overal result. :-)

Entry cost remains unchanged from last year and is £85 if paying BEFORE 3rd August or £100 if paying between 4th August and enty closing date of 6th September.

For your entry you get full use of SSC facilities, (upto) 7 races on the the river Blackwater, BBQ Friday evening, meal Saturday evening and thanks to Seabrook developments, bacon or sausage roll Saturday and Sunday morning (tomato roll available for the vegitarians)- What more could you ask for??

There is plenty of FREE camping on site for tents and motor homes/ pikey palaces in the car park.

There are also houses/ rooms to rent and local B&B's and static caravan parks for those wanting a bit more comfort

This year the club has purchased a 12 seater mini bus that depending on demand could be available as a 'ferry bus' around the Dengie for a nominal fee

We have a recently refurbished galley and bar facilities with the showers and changing rooms overhalued and refitted last winter.

The club (and bar) will be open on Thursday 4th September for early arrivals wanting to tweak and tune (and drink)

If you have never been to Stone then you dont know what you are missing - we are the premier east coast club witha 2km wide tidal estuary that can be sailed in all states of tide in all wind directions. In 2010 we had a record entry of 81 boats confirming how good it is to sail there :-)

Entry form and NOR will be up in next couple along with PayPal links for payment.

Watch this space for further updates :-)

I'm based in Birmingham. Am looking at a second car with a towbar later today and have also looked at the possibility of renting one as well. I'm not able to bring the boat down early as am away for the whole of August and only get back a couple of days before the nationals.

Oh the joys of car insurance. Certainly won't be buying a cheap runabout with a towbar as would have to insure with 0 no claims due to it being a second car and not in the market to replace my current main vehicle yet.

Down to rental or someone with a doublestack trailer nearby who's also attending then.

Would suggest maybe you could chat to the guys who sail  Northampton, maybe take your boat there and they might be able to double stack it down for you?

Worse case scenario is i sometimes come up to our Birmingham office for meeting so might hve an outside chance of picking it up for you

As for car insurance go to Admiral for a multi car quote :-)

Shouldnt be an issue, we might need to park it out the way a bit because the K6 nationals start on the Thursday (iirc) after the Phantom nationals so they might need the space, but the club will be open so you won't have to worry about the gate being locked :-)

Olly

There's plenty of grass by the side of the club and I'm fairly confident that they won't run out of space....

Camper vans and cars are parked to the rear of the club and again, plenty of space.

Has Mike lost his login or are you his personal travel agent?

Cheers

As per Ian's comments, in 2010 we had over 80 Phantoms, most of who were camping in some way, and we didn't run out of room.

It will be fine :-)
