How to find us...
Exit the M5 at junction 3. Take Manor Way - the A456 West signposted to Kidderminster (out of Birmingham). Take the first left into the narrow Lapal Lane South. Follow this around the bends for about a mile and just before the end turn left into Lye Close and cross the bridge over the M5. Turn right at the cross-roads with the much bigger Woodgate Lane. Where the road forks, bear left down Adams Hill and then keep straight on past the schools and shops until you see Bartley Sailing Club signposted on your right just before the dam wall.

Bartley is a great place to sail a Phantom & a key member of the midland series.

I'll be going, you have a months notice, it would be great if you could all join me.

sunday dawned in Birmingham with a pleasant breeze and sunny skies, 6 smiling phantom owners gathered along with numerous supernova owners to sail 3 races. boats were prepped and everyone agreed although the breeze was strong it was steady. by the time we had changed things had got slightly more lively (steady 16 knts gusting 25knt)  but still we pressed on . 6 boats set off for the start line  1 boat returned to shore sensing something was not quite right, 1 boat capsized 3 times before the start (although there may have been a few quite valid excuses) the start was signaled and off we went, the first beat was entirerly uneventful but what followed wasnt

the wind picked up like someone had flicked a switch to 23knts gusting 32+ all 5 remaining boat spent a considerable amount time upside down, with the pick of the capsizes being at the 2nd gybe mark as 2 boat gybed, buried there bows and cartwheeled down the course throwing the sailors out like ragdolls

the result was collated and we all returned to shore with different levels of success. some the correct way up and others not

the supernova fleet suffered with us starting five mins behind with one poor soul snapping his mast and another ripping his rudder off with part of his boat

races 2 and 3 were abandoned

be very glad that you gave it a miss today if you were thinking of coming but we hope to see you next year

ps no names in this report to protect the stupid. but congratulations to **** ****** who won
