I'm keen to try, but I've never sailed there - what is it like? Not too keen on 2-mile beats or hour-long trips to the start line. Can someone who's sailed there before let us know what to expect?

Also I see the ferry is from Harwich - is there a cheap option for travel?

Thanks

I am just about to send out some more info,,,, watch your e mails, if I havne't got your e mail, PM me with it... ;)

You can use any ferry to Europe, I am working on Harwich to Hook because it limits the driving, Dover Calis with boat in tow is £150 ish.

or put boat on roof and pay for overheight vehicle ???

I am still waiting to hear from Stenna :-\

I have also looked at Gt. Yarmouth with Norfolk line, they are working a deal, I'll let you know the asap

As far as costs go Harwich to Hook with car upto 6m long and 1.8m (just about get a Phantom on roof) and trailer up to 8m long and 3m high (so negates height limit on car!!) out on the Thursday at 9am, arriving 430pm with a return on Sunday at 10pm including a cabin for 4 on the return journey £342  ;D

Alternative is Ramsgate Oostende at around £150 return with a 200 mile drive or Dover Calais and a 260 mile drive

The water i believe we would sail in is infact a big lake - the Ijsslemer

So far the ferry cost is down to £250 for my motorhome and trailer  :D with a cabin for two both ways :-[

I told them I would go Dover Calis and take my other 12 vehicles and trailer with me :o

They are looking at options, working with OK fleet to get there numbers rolled in too for more discount ???

Stenna :'(

Phantoms :)

There is the option to use your Tesco clubcard vouchers to get you to Holland......!
Under the clubcard deals you can trade your vouchers in and get 4 times their worth.
Put this into perspective the other half goes shopping you go sailing.
The other half goes shopping you go sailing.
See the pattern here ??
Vouchers arrive save them up, you end up with eg. £50 in vouchers you send off and get £200 worth of travel....SIMPLES...
Oh....then
other half goes shopping
you go sailing in holland

You do what you like doing ....and they do what comes naturally..

Think of it as a win win situation...thats what ive told mine..he..he..he
Happy Days.. ;D

Share holder maybe....      looking for every which way to get more people to the europeans...definatley.....I didn't even mention double clubcard points at the moment...oops just did.
Windy you could look at it like this..I'm simply providing great reasons to send the other half shopping and getting more of the fleet sailing.

Unfortunatly even my credit card does not have a big enough limit to keep you n Fultcher in beer for a few hours :-[

You will have to make do with Dutch beer once you get to Medemblik ::)

Good Luck to all those going to Holland.
The cloggies are good fun.
Watch out for the stupid small glasses they pore there lager in they can mount up on you and do nasty things the following day.

I still owe a dutch cruising yacht at an FD worlds an apology following use of facilities waiting for a start!

Thanks for the good whishes, we now have 21 registered with another 4 promises, making 25. As the OK's are upto 34 I think we might struggle to keep up with the drinking games, but they are only small glasses as you say ;)

Weel I hope that everyone has a really yot in the Netherlands. I am very jealous but due to the family there is no way that I can come, just too much too soon. I just guess I will have to sit at the Nats listening to how great it was. Convince the Cloggies that the Solo & OK are rubbish and that they should all buy Phantoms!!
"Heb een geweldige tijd en drinken op de OK-zeilers onder de tafel"

Enjoy it to all of you going

Phatso, please do tell all of what happens once you are released from the Dutch prison for people smuggling.....and can actually sit down to write it. I assume that Mr Bower is suitably embarissed cos if he ain't he soon will be when he gets back to the southwest

Progress update...... John must look like Rita as we are on the ferry having breakfast.
We will be playing spot the difference john, short light colour hair, glasses, slight stubble versus (from what I have seen in the p.p photo) lack of facial hair, longer dark hair, no glasses can anyone tell the difference ?

5 hours on the ferry Rita will be suitably embarrased.
5 days with friendly phantom fellas Rita will be suitably used to the name.

Does Rita looked worried at all? Should do as shes got to get back into the country...is he having the correct passport being fedex'd out to him in holland, or is he going to risk it? Did they not check the pp on the way out then? If not they may check un holland and Rita could then be stuck...might have live on the ferry for ever.

Oh and from now on he will have to be known as Rita, forever.

Good Morning All from Medemblik and the start of the Europa Cup. The wind has picked up over night and it looks like we are going to have around a force 4 for the first day.

The illegal immigrant (Rita) arrived safely at around 8pm. We are not sure if phatso will respond today as he took on the role of barman at last nights bbq and unfortunately consumed more than he served.

The Creeksea massive are now on time trial from the Hook though on yesterdays road conditions I hope Rodders and Yotting Cod have arisen already in hikers as it may be touch and go as to if they will get here in time for the last race.

We  have adopted a lone OK sailor of dubiuos character who has lent Simon  F some retro 70s football shorts. Pics to follow.

Well I hope you all have a good day. More later.

May day :o

Forecast is F4 dropping to F3 as we come off the water, those who survived 3 races yesterday can hardly walk :D

Windy's having a Dutch auction to "Rent" his spare mast :P

I am praying the F3 comes in early, don't think "Alice" can take another day slamming through the "chop", I know my hips can't >:(

Update the results either later today or tomorrow..
