What a weekend - far too much drinking ! Well done Charlie, almost moral victory for Nick, but boat preparation........ Only 3 boats finishing all 8 races - poofs, Grant was indeed a young legend ( and one of the 3) !
Thanks Will, Titch Windy for getting it all sorted. The bits I can remember were awesome !!

any chance anybody could convert the results file into a 2003 word doc from 2007

Hi All
The results make it look like you had a lot of breakages of either boats or people, when do we get the full story?
Well done Charlie virtually your first time in a brand new boat and not done a lot of heavy wind sailing in the Phantom so a good result.
Regards
Gordon

Probably when their fingers have recovered sufficiently to type Gordon..
Well done to all of you that went and competed in very bruising conditions.
Well done too to Charlie on winning the Europa Cup to go alongside being the National champ....what next?

I'll leave the story for others but fingers will be a topic for one of us.....

Yes perhaps that wasn't the most tactful of responses, sorry John... :-[

No offence taken Ian.
Love to Rita

Based on the new rule of 5th placed writes the report you will have to wait until Titch is back in the UK for the official version.
But in summary, it was quite windy, it was a bit choppy, the socials were up to the usual Phantom standards, boats and bodies took a battering and there was some impressive sailing from the boys at the front! At times it was survival at others it was perfection and if you thought the race was over when you crossed the finish line the 2 mile beat home soon reminded you it wasn't :)
If you missed it you missed out, but there is already talk of a European return in 2012... 8)
I'll leave Titch to fill in the gaps, Rita, the sundance bar, Nick Thorpes bar tending skills are just a few of the highlights..
Thanks to everyone invloved for a memorable trip!
-
Jez, thank you for organising the chalet. Next time I'll take the fishing tackle....
-
Thanks to Windy and Titch for the organisation, Jez for the digs, and Nick for the entertainment. A fantastic event. Great time had by all and sign me up for a return visit!

Hi all,
Great event, many thanks to "Titch", "Windy" and particularly Will, (sad not to see you there Will,) for all the hard work in organising our first Europa Cup.
Sadly many of you will be aware that "Springer" must be laid to
rest, :( but fear not RITA is here. ;D Custom officers finally noticed the fact that the passport did not match the holder when we arrived at Stena checkin at Hook of Holland. After a couple of phone calls to higher authority, I think the general opinion was that, "yes he looks stupid enough to have done this, let him through!". So on we travelled. Last hurdle, UK customs at Harwich. No problem there at all, they never noticed.
Hopefully see you all again at the Nationals if not before.

The Bar Man report
The bar man report is as follows:
A fun packed venture into Europe started when checking the alledged age of one of my first customers, firstly claiming to be a woman going by the name of Rita and secondly not looking anything like the picture, as a dilligent bar man I had to check !!! :P After a high speed journey in the Torrence rocket we arrived at the "sundance bar" well what can I say time to "get on it" I like to do my best to ensure everyone is fueld on the correct fluids....Sitting behind the bar I was thinking how quiet a night we were all having until Titch found supplies :o
The bar man was obliging by ensuring all competitors had a full glass at all times, there was a suggestion that the bar man was focused on helping Charlie enjoy a good evening so that the following day was a more even afair :o oops
Now there is some vague recolection of someone moving Simon's camper van everytime he tried to get in it..! Pesky camper vans have a lot to answer for.
The bar man closed the bar mainly because he could no longer stand or talk to anyone...Charlie has a lot to answer for.

Just got back into uk today, been "wireless" literally and didn't fancy sitting in a cafe' in Amsterdam trying to type up the report, I thought the "fumes" might make the stories even taller ;D
Titch :-*

Nice one Titch, good to hear some stories about the sailing rather than entirely about Rita.
Do you know if there are any photos of the event so we can see how bad it really was?
-
grant blakes dad, David took some so he will send you an CD or link or something...
