Update from Glossop SC concerning the event schedules for 27th June:
"GLOSSOP SC OPEN - cancelled / postponed
I’m very sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Glossop and the surrounding area is currently experiencing a surge in Covid 19 cases which has resulted in school closures close to the club. This and the advice to minimise non essential travel in Manchester and the surrounding areas has led to the committee making the difficult decision to cancel/ postpone the Phantom on scheduled for next Sunday. I know this will be a disappointment to you as it is to me and my three fellow Phantom sailors at the club but hope everyone understands. We could look to reschedule later in the year if there is interest / space in diaries.
Best wishes
Rich"
Will attempt to re-schedule.

As it stands the nationals is on
The caterer has changed at Stone in the last few days, just bottoming out the menu and costs as this affects entry fee, so the entry should be up and running next week |

Weymouth Regatta
The regatta will be going ahead this year, albeit in a lower profile than previous years. To that end Sailracer isn't being used for online entries. If you would like to go please could you let me know either on here, Facebook, or by sending me an email on rsc_general@live.com, and I'll pass your details on. I'll need name, sail number and an email address so an invoice can be sent for the entry fee. I believe entry numbers may be capped so worth getting in quickly. In the event that demand outstrips available places I'll use a first-come, first served principle based on the order I received messages / emails. I'll try and get this sent out to association members by email, and I'll copy to the class website forum and other FB pages. I've got 11 entries already.... Rich. |

.. in every sense.
Apologies for posting this here but I could not get the classified ad on the website or the sales and wants section of the forum to work. Phantom Mainsail, £40. https://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/phantom-mainsail/1407656023?utm_source=com.google.android.apps.docs&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=socialbuttons&utm_content=app_android I had a great time sailing # 103 a self-built Phantom called Banshee in the 1970's as a lightweight in light weather (heavier now, in a Merlin 😉) Picked up the cutting out patterns on brown paper from Buckenham Ferry Stitch and glued it in the living room. Got a 3rd in the Nationals at Minnis Bay. Happy days. But great to see the cool new boats! |

Hi Steve, thanks for the information. That's the chap I bought from. He is from a sailing family and I met his father who you say might be the original owner since 2001. So I probably now have ownership details back to 1971, which is great.
I have just found her posted in the classifieds here. Although I am sure it isn't that unreasonable given that the sail is very good and the hull had recently been restored but I would have passed this ad by at that price and I see everyone else did too! http://www.phantomclass.org.uk/classifieds/9-for-sale/102-classic-wooden-phantom-sail-num |

Hi All,
I’m in the process of restoring 626. Following plenty of stripping, half a sheet of marine ply and some enthusiastic carpentry with a couple of litres of epoxy and plenty of glass tape, I should be ready for fitting soon-ish It came with all the fittings removed (in a bag) do any of you guys have: i Photos of your Mk1 layouts? ii Know if the rudder should be raked at all? The blade was in the wrong way when I picked it up but sets with rake when re-installed the right way. iii Offer any advice as to if I should have Lower shrouds? It’s got rod rigged diamond rigged spreaders on what I believe to be a needle spar. I’m not expecting to race it anywhere near its handicap, but would like it to work as well as possible. Cheers Simon Challen |

Evening
Phantom 10 was at Shoreham SC (south coast) for 2\3 years till about 2018. Her then owner was a young chap who we hardly saw. Not sure if he ever raced. Ivan may remember more than me. Hazy but I think he said '10' wasn't actually built until the kit was 30 years old & the kit plus rudder etc had been kept in a dry garage having been bought by his father. Yes, a nice looking boat which I hope you'll enjoy. |

Hi Ronnie
If you are sailing at Ulley SC I would suggest joining the North and Midlands regional group on Facebook - assuming you use this platform and you haven't already. It can be found at https://www.facebook.com/groups/1622240501356271 This is used a lot more than the forum. Matt - Co-regional Rep, North and Midlands. |
