Mast location?
« on: January 08, 2014, 07:55:37 PM »

Where on a wooden phantom should the mast be located?
I have read that it should be 3300 from the outer edge of the transom to the
Back edge of the mast in which case my mast is 9cm too far forward or 1 meter from the front of the bow to the front of the mast which means my mast is 3 cm too far forward.
The support under the deck is in place for 3300 from transom
The mast foot plate has been refitted at some point as it is not straight and is 20mm off to one side

Anyone have a clear

Reason being I'm not pointing very high and have convinced myself its lee helm as when I rake the mast back abnormally far it seems to improve a lot

The centre of the mast should be 1000mm from the bow +/- 100mm. Usually the further back you put it the better, making sure that it is still supported under the deck.
I hope that helps.

Hi thanks John, I have moved the mast footplate back so it is now 3300 from transom but with room to move it forward to 1 meter from the bow tip
Will see how it feels on Sunday.
