Boom end
« on: August 29, 2011, 08:07:29 PM »

Hello, I am working towards getting an old Phantom back on the water. The boom end fitting which takes the gooseneck needs replacing. The boom is round and seems to have an internal measurement of 50mm -does anyone know where I can source this boom end or, as as people at our club have suggested I may have to replace the boom. If I do this what sort of boom should I get? Limited budget so would be looking for second hand. I can find no markings on the original boom or boom end to identify it.

Hi Crosby,

I'm pretty confident it will be replaceable.  It is probably located by two rivets; one either side of the boom.

Have a look on any chandlery website and you will see both round and square(ish) fittings (and the various different configurations of the end itself).

Simples!
