All,
As most of you are aware I have taken over from NOrman as the southern area rep for 2014.
I am currently in the process of putting together the 2014 calender and would like to ask anyone who would like to have a southern area open at there club to let me know ASAP. If you could have a provisional date aswell that would be great.
Just to give everyone an idea below is the clubs we visited/are still to visit:
Wimbleball
Frensham
Island barn
Bowmoor
Lee on Solent
Castle cove (as part of Weymouth dinghy regatta)
Paignton (for the posh regatta)
Chew valley
I know that lee on Solent are having some rebuilding work done so won't be having an open this year so there could potentially be a free space for a returning or new club.

Hi Olly.

I'm happy to run one at IBRSC if everyone wants to come.....I'm conciouss that we were looking at reducing the amount of Opens to encourage more people to the ones we do run.......Can i suggest we definitely do Castle Cove and look at Bough Beech in March for South v East.

Can you suggest a date for IBRSC or do you want to look at other venues. I'm happy either way but if you want an IBRSC Open i need to book it around October time.

I'll have a word with sailing sec at Frensham to see what date is being considered.  It will probably be similar timing to last year (s).   

Congrats on the new role .....  you have a hard act to follow ....      Many thanks to NOrman for all his organising this year and the great sponsorship etc.

Jeremy that would be great if you could just let me know what date they were thinking even if its provisional.
Nick the date isnt really an issue to be honest I would be happy for it to be around the same time again or october.
Either way if both of you could let me know that would be great

Hey Olly ...  looking at a sunday in April ....  either the one before or one after Easter .....  Think that is 13th or 27th.   Should be able to let you know within the next couple of weeks.

But seriously ..  if you would rather not be seeking a day pass on your b'day, let me know and I will lobby for the earlier date.

Larks  (with whom we share the open meeting) are favoring the 13th April.   Is this OK with everyone?  No clashes?  About to firm up, so please shout if not.

OK ...  Frensham Pond open meeting set for Sunday 13th April 2014.   Aiming for a 4 X 40 min race format.  Make a note in the Diaries.

I think I am close to finishing the 2014 dates for the southern series.
I have got 3 x 1 day events that are on lakes bomoor, frensham etc
and
3 x 2 day events which are on the sea Lyme, Painton and Weymouth.
I know that there has been a big thing on 2 day events and all but I felt that if it was a sea venue it was better to have a 2 day event and make more of a weekend of it as it were.

Sounds like a good mix of inland/coastal and 1 & 2 day events.
Should be something for everyone
