The curse of wind guru and the difficulty of getting fuel kept the numbers down but a select group did battle with very variable wind both in terms of strength and direction.
Race 1 saw a very bias line to the committee boat end and Tim H and Nick M made the most of it buy pulling away, Tony Cumberbatch picked up a great shift on the left and would have led round the windward? mark had he noticed the change of rounding before the start. Tim and Nick pulled away and looked to be a sure thing until they sailed into a hole which allowed Jeremy Hudson to pull up into the lead briefly, however the breeze reappeared from the left and Tim pulled away to win, the rest of the fleet compacted at the last mark before the finish and a nip and tuck game developed with Nick M eventually beat Bob Larder for second.
Race 2 was back to back and again Tim and Nick M spotted the pin end bias and led away with nick leading at the first mark, Tim sailed past him with the pack chasing at his heels. Timpulled away to win but behind i think nearly everyone had a go a being 2nd until Nick Royse pulled away for second.
After the usual eating of Pies etc, race 3 eventually got underway after a short postponement, Tim decided that it would be more fun to send Nick M's son out in his boat to try and clobber his old man, but it was Nick R who took the lead which he kept for the race although the chasing Duo of Bob Larder and Nick M tried to catch him but to no avail and they finished in that order.
After such a hot and light day there was much gulping of beer after racing and the attempt to demolish the famous Frensham Tea, unfortunately as we were sharing the event with Lark sailors who don't know how to eat properly we failed to eat everything.
