I was lucky, if the legs of the course had been longer, say 160 yards then I wouldn't have stood a chance.

Hi Captain
It was me Ian was squarking at due to having a moment avoiding a slowlo who cocked up his gibe only to find Ian blasting down the reach on a huge gust straight at me. By the way Ian windward boat keep clear, so it should of been you having the swim not me!

In my case 4 capsizes, no marks hit but long conversations with a very chatty happy opie kid.
Regards
Gordon

Not sure we have quite persuaded Gordon on the merits and joys of pond sailing yet ....  :)  but he has recognised the opportunity for lots of chatting with other boats and how freindly it can be  :D  just got to work on the benefits of honing your skills with shifty wind ???
In my case no capsizes, no marks hit ...  just appalling starts and a few dropped tiller extensions during sudden lulls resulting in irons  :'(

Don't say that, the Cpt will be moaning even more now that he should have won, yet more excuses. He would have of course were it not for the race three tack.

As an advert once said..
phantom -£7000, entry fee -£10, fuel to the event - £20, the sight of nick throwing the open with a silly tack just before the finish - priceless.

Sorry Gordon, thought you had stopped racing at that point as you were going away from the mark rather than round it.

Yes I am still confused to why I tacked, have not slept since Sunday.

Ian if it had been anyone else I would not of tacked but I wanted you to go home happy  :D Though it must of looked different  ::)

Now thats commitment to the SW Series!

Hi All
it was a very entertaining day all round and i hope to be allowed to borrow Wendy's car again for Chew and Burghfield. (It did not want to start Monday morning.)
Next yearr i shall get my revenge by making you lot come to the Solent and i hope it blows SW force 5, chop heaven, very long windward legs and SUNSAIL going round the gybe mark in the opposite direction.

Regards
Gordon

Look forward to it Gordon,  even Nick the Lemming (AKA Captain Slow) would be hard pushed to repeat such a sacrificial manouvre on the sea!
Oh come to think of it he did at Burnham falling upon the sword of a neatly moored cruiser.  Maybe there is a pattern developing?
Sounds like a good plan for next years events.  See if you can get an early date so we can fit it in.

Cheers Simon. ;D

Stop picking on the fat kid, the yacht at Burnham was far from neatly parked. Some numbnut left it parked on the finish line!  :)

Gordon the solent sounds great! We could have a joint party for Ian's 40th and the DI's 50th, I think both are next year. Although Ian does look considerably older  ;D

As you say stop picking on the fat kid?  To make you feel at home we could even have a prize for the first junior?

Young uns today, just no respect!

I did notice at the weekend someone should have given you your first razor.  Fortunately for you , you did not look young enough to deserve a lesson in collision avoidance from Pete,  is that unlucky Alf? Maybe that was the reason for the bum fluff on your face.
I have been monitoring your doodlings on another forum and any more of that sort of behaviour , belittling a potential National Gem and you will get a detention!!!!!!!

Now go and do your home work it is way past your bedtime!!!!!

and put that fag out! :D ;D :D ;) :o ::) :-*

JaJajajajajajajaja

He is a nice photo of Ian looking slightly challenged, or 'special' might be a better word.

Children play nicely, it will only end in tears.
Ian When is your campaign starting for 2012 after your stunning achievement at the weekend? after all your have a result to your name, unlike some who are mentioned on another forum.

Nick, I was going to be rude but then i would have to self-moderate..ooo-er.

Gordon, thanks for the thoughts and encouragement but i feel that it would be unfair to compete against our greatest sailor to never have competed at an olympics. He has his sponsors & adoring public to satisfy, I don't, no comparison. I will leave him to defend our countries honour
