Burghfield Ghoulie Phantom Open
« on: September 03, 2010, 06:16:14 PM »

Just a reminder to you all, of the forthcoming Burghfield

Phantom, Blaze, Solution & OK Open, Saturday 23rd October 2010

(For the Blazes this is a re-fix of the earlier April Open which didn’t run because of no wind.

Pre-register on www.burgfield.org  to save money, and check out the club details there as well.

Event Details

Phantom,Blaze, Solution and OK Open is on Saturday 23rd October 2010, with the first race scheduled for an 11am start. There will be three races over the course of the day, one before lunch and two back to back in the afternoon from approximately 1.30pm.

Registration will be from 9.30am upstairs in the main clubroom. A race briefing will take place beneath the balcony at 10.30am. With the three races scheduled there will be one discard with two to count.

All racing will take place in accordance to the Club open meeting Sailing Instructions available to download below.
Prize giving will be at the end of the day in the main Clubroom.

Entry for the event is £12 per boat on the day or £10 per boat if pre-registered. Catering will be available for both breakfasts and lunch and I will endeavour to ensure that our caterers are up early and providing bacon butties for the early arrivals!

Roger Williams. (the new Fast Fleet Captain and a Blaze sailor)

Bring the family, there's a kids play area outside and comfortable lounge  overlooking the lake at 1st floor level, with balcony. If you need to drop your boat off the night before, there's secure parking. Just call Pat, the club secretary, to pre-arrange (01189303604). We can accommodate most requests.
There's a nice bar and Stella on tap, too

Nick,
Thanks for the info I'm hoping to come along and its great to hear that there is a kids play area, etc as it might be that I bring them along, at least it's an option though I'll more than likely come anyway. Looking Forward to it. Are You Promising some wind cos its been rubbish wind this year?

Just got to remember to pre enter...

Hi, I've been lighting beeswax candles in most of the churches on a Greek island I was at recently, so if that doesn't work, I'll lose my belief that there is a God and may join the Moonies.  In the absence of anything to the contrary, I remain confident that the day will be breezy and will show us Phantom sailors just how fast the Blaze really is and how its PY number is a carefully orchestrated anachronism.

p.s. it appears Roger got the email addy wrong, sorry on his behalf.

You seem to have it at every open so far this year, usually as a result of a curry the night before.. ;D

Any comittee member coming to burghfield willing and able to re-measure a sail on Saturday morning following Norths repositioning of the lower batten pocket??
It must be worth a pint in the bar after the race??
Cheers

Bob,
I should be there and also Simon Hawkes and we can both measure it. Also maybe Gordon too so between us we should cover it. Now as long as I can remember the tape measure & pen we'll be ok.
cheers
