The final event of the Eastern Series "Hickling" started early on Friday evening with a gathering in the local Inn appropriately call "The Pleasureboat". The early arriving visitors were pleased to find an array of beers, One called "Ghost" seemed to go down well!!

On Saturday 21 Eastern Buoys turned up to an angry F3-4, an interesting shift pattern could be seen running down the broad....

Race 1 - Childs set out his stall early and landed his first bullet followed by a catching Harmsworth with Jarvey hanging on with an impressive third, showing the lower weight to power ratio was no handicap in the "Blow".
Race 2 - Was a mirror image of race 1 with a Childs, Harmsworth and Javey, but the rest of the fleet were changing places all the way round, 4th place was decided by a photo finish between Wayling + Cowood who was improving all the time having not been in his boat since the Nationals... Wayling got the nod...
Race 3 - Childs and Harmsworth romped round the track to take the 1 - 2 and Cowood finally remembered how to sail and took 3rd, House snuck into 4th with a smile, just piping Jarvey to 5th

Saturday evening saw us all in "The Pleasureboat" enjoying an evening, Eating food provided by our sponsor "Tempra-Tec", leaving more money to convert into "Beer Tokens".. Unfortunately the Inn ran out of "Ghost" a good beer for "Phantoms", so we moved onto "Wherry" ...

Sunday dawned with no wind, while we waited and watched the patchy wind fill in several helms voted to go home early, but the patchy wind covered the lake, the postponement came down and the wind filled in as we sailed down to the start line, even allowing the odd Hiking moment. How we laughed at those who went home?!

Race 4 - With a very close start in the light wind, each mark round was close, Jenkins arrived at the 1st mark asking for directions (His first time in the lead in a Phantom), places changed all the way round but local hero Jarvey crept away with House following, the ever improving Felat in 3rd and Jenkins in a very happy 4th.
Race 5 - Jarvey and House took the 1 - 2 with Wayling finally creeping into 3rd
Race 6 - Javey stamped his authority on the Broad and took his third 1st of the event and with Childs going home early a solid victory, Falat came in 2nd with his best result of the event and Case 3rd who was just coming into form.

So the event was done, Jarvey, the local hero took the worship of his followers, with the furthest travelled Harmswoth in 2nd and House with his best result of the season in 3rd.

We all look forward to next season with several new venues planned for 2011
