Seventeen phantom sailors rolled up to Hickling sc for the final event of the 2011 eastern series, Greeted with lovely sunshine and a nice force 3 the first race got underway from a line start, Ben Falat, Tyler Harmswoth, Chris Roberts, and Ian Miller pulled clear from the other phantoms and much place swapping occurred, on the final lap Ben was leading from Ian, Tyler and then Chris. On the second from last mark Ian capsized letting Tyler and Chris through and that’s how it ended.

Second race started after a cracking lunch and again the fleet started clear, the wind had built slightly and with the sun the sailing was awesome, Tyler led and was never really troubled from the charging pack of Chris, Matthew House, Ian and Rod Thorpe.

The final race of the day again started clear and again Tyler along with Daren Pike and Matthew, had a close fought battle with Tyler taking honours.

Saturday evening most of the fleet and Swags (Sailing wives and girlfriends) went to congratulate Mr & Mrs Fielding at their wedding reception, and it was reported back that they looked lovely, James Case was busting out the moves on the dance floor and Lorraine Swift (more commonly known as Miss Morley) caught the bouquet!

Sunday morning arrived with a lighter and shifty wind, The first race started cleanly and Marcus Ingram led around the first mark, followed by Ben, Marcus stayed clear while Tyler and Paul Jarvey overhauled Ben for second and third.

Race 5 started and Paul, Tyler, Chris, Matthew and James Jarvey battled around the course with much place swapped throughout the fleet, the race finished Paul, Tyler, Chris.

Steak and Ale pie was the main attraction for lunch. Unsurprisingly a handful of phantomers chose to pack up early/digest lunch so a depleted fleet started the final race, Paul led clear around the first lap with Marcus, followed by Ben, Chris and James in close battle. Marcus overtook Paul for the win.

Many thanks to Hickling SC for another fantastic event and a fitting end to the Eastern series 2011. Thanks also to Rod Thorpe and James Jarvey for their support and also to Chris Robert for organising the series. And most of all to all the people who sail, turn up and support the series.
