Why Join the Class Association?
Well technically speaking if you should sail ANY dinghy in races organised by ANY club, you should have a valid certificate, and that means being a member of the relevant Class Association.
However few clubs or dinghy classes can afford to be that dogmatic, except of course for National Championships etc. However, there are distinct advantages to be had from joining the Class Association.
The Association is run by a small (but very approachable) group of enthusiasts. They want to see the class thrive. A large active membership helps.
The Association has a record of ALL boats measured. If you have not got a certificate, one can be re-issued if appropriate, OR we can put you in touch with a measurer.
The Class trains and appoints Measurers for Hulls and for Sails;
Completed measurement-forms are held by the Class with Racing Certificates subsequently issued as required by Members, as a free service;
Transom Stickers as proof of Membership are also a free service;
Dinghy Show stand costs are paid for by the Association;
All administrative and committee time is given free of charge by Members;
We pay a fee for the hosting and security of the Class WebSite though the day-to-day management of the site is given free.
You can either pay for your Class Association membership by Bank transfer to ” Phantom class Association ” sort code “09-01-51″ Acc ” 74709307 using your name as a reference or PayPal by entering the details required below. When you click on the Buy Now button you will be transferred from the class website to PayPal, here you can make your payment. On completion you will be returned to this website. The Class Association do not record or hold any card details that you may enter, all transactions are made through the PayPal payment system.
Please note that you do not have to have a PayPal account to make a payment, you can pay by credit or debit card without having to register for PayPal.
After entering your PayPal logon or your card details there is a text field to enter some extra details. Please do this for your sail number (if applicable) and your sailing club as this makes it easier to process the membership renewal.
